Are We Really Ready For Cyber Sex?
Over the years we have seen hints of futuristic cyber sex on the big screen. One of personal favorites is the movie “Demolition Man” with Sylvester Stallone and Sandra Bullock. These two attempted a round of cyber sex, but it turned out to be a little much for Sly. Like everything else in the world there are plenty of opinions going around either supporting or going against the cyber sex activity. Keep in mind that there are still plenty of people in the world that see “vibrators” and other “sex toys” as taboo.
Cyber Sex is Here
Demolition Man landed on the big screen just over two decades ago in 1993. It is safe to say that technology has come a long way since then. As a matter of fact we are beginning to see the birth of cyber sex technology on the market. Perhaps we are not close to the “Demolition Man” technology, but there are gadgets out there now that are designed to offer stimulation between couples across the internet.
My focus today is not to cover these products or to push them off on you in any shape or form. If you are interested in checking out this new technology simply Google cyber sex toys and the information is there. The question I am imposing is whether or not we as a society are ready to start having cyber sex in the first place. The reality is that people are spending more and more time on their smart phones, androids, iPads, and iPhones then ever before.
Technology is already Sharing your Bed
When couples finally wind down from a busy day and crawl into bed you nearly have to pry one of these mobile devices from their boney fingers. That being said it is plain to visualize that technology is already consuming time in the bedroom. It is hard enough for couples to find time for the sexual relationship these days without technology standing in the way. It is this frame of mind that led many technology geeks into thinking why not combine the two loves and create the ultimate love toy.
I have nothing against technology, nor do I have anything against sex toys in general. However, I can’t see any present technology that is going to replace the real thing. Obviously, there is enough technology to send those already engaging in long distance phone sex, or web cam sex, to explore new opportunities. Let’s face it some people are going to do whatever they can to get the most out of a sexual possibility.
Call Me Old Fashioned
Call me old fashioned, but I still want to feel the skin to skin contact during sexual activity. I believe most would agree that it is hard to imagine anything ever quite replacing that physical contact combined with emotional bonding that just doesn’t exist yet in cyber space. Nevertheless, I try to be open minded and think outside the box (whenever my wife allows me to do so), but for now I don’t know if I am quite ready to slap on the electronics guided by a cell phone application. Are you ready for cyber sex?
